Design: A dynamic, exciting process.

Based on analyses and strategic thinking, we generate in iterative processes innovation impulses and sustainable design concepts. In this way we create added value for our clients and shape change.

Design is structured.

Our design process is divided into five phases. This clear structure is efficient and gives us optimum control over a project. The individual phases are flexible in terms of content and can be adapted individually. In this way we are able to ideally focus special project requirements and the aims of our clients.

Context Research

A good knowledge base is essential. At the beginning of a project we research relevant information and analyse the context. This base provides us with the orientation in the design process and enables us to take the right decisions.

Concept Studies

This phase is concerned with illustrating the possibilities. We generate scenarios and concepts and ask what would be possible. We often test consciously in various directions in order to sound out existing potential. In this way we develop an awareness for the ideal solution.

Design Development

Based on the chosen concept, the design is further developed. The various aspects are investigated exactly and are elaborated. Design variations often arise, we discuss these jointly with the client and evaluate them. The design has to fulfil all of the various requirements placed on this project. At the same time it should also be innovative and progressive.

Design Optimisation

Once the design exists, it is defined exactly. The final dimensions and construction details are determined and carefully prepared. We create patterns, references and guidelines for the realisation phase. The aim is to carry out a smooth transfer of the design to the various realisation partners.

Implementation Support

If desired, we can continue supporting a project. We assist you consultatively and pass on useful contact to experts from our network. In this way we help to improve the whole user experience and to open up new aspects.

Design is not always linear.

Design is a creative process. Information and results of the analyses are continually processed and translated into concepts. In early project phases in particular, different directions are taken in parallel. This openness is important, in this way new ideas can arise and mature. By trying out different approaches, we learn to recognise the ideal path for a project to take.

Design is very promising.

It has been proven that enterprises have a greater chance of success in the market and a better performance when design is strategically and holistically integrated and lived by within the company.

An initial, comprehensive study carried out by the «red dot institute for advanced design studies» in Essen, Germany and the resulting «red dot design teams index» confirm these considerably better performances.

Further investigations by the «Design Management Institute» in Boston (dmi), illustrated in the «Design Value Index» and also recently in the McKinsey Report «The Business Value of Design» also confirm this in a very impressive manner.

Design Awards.

Well-designed, innovative products and concepts can be highlighted by being awarded design prizes. This particular recognition of product quality and the design performance can mean a considerable advantage in the market.

Out of the international design awards, the Red Dot Award, the iF Award, the German Design Award and the Good Design Award, Chicago Athenaeum share the highest renown. Moreover, there are design prizes which are more locally significant, such as the Design Preis Schweiz in Switzerland. Until today, we have been able to receive numerous prizes together with our clients.

For many years now, Wolfgang K. Meyer-Hayoz has been a juror and ambassador for the prestigious Red Dot Award: Product Design as well as for the Red Dot Award: Design Concept/ Singapur. Through this activity we gain on-the-spot, valuable insights into current developments in design and technology worldwide.
